Site Description – In spite of the fact that the hull of the Mahoning is badly disarticulated many of the pieces are extant on site including the bottom and sides of the hull. There is also some of the deck and stem deadwood on site. Parts of the machinery or working parts of the ship extant on site include the rudder a distance from the hull, centerboard trunk, a capstan, the windlass drum,  one cathead, part of the fife rail, a cargo truck or dolly, anchor chain, and various pieces of the masts and booms. Displaced from the hull is a portable pump and boiler which includes the wheels that allowed it to be moved.
