Site Description All that is left of the City of Alpena is a portion of the bottom of the ship with hull framing and planking and the propeller and propeller shaft. About 55 ft of the keel is extant. The aft 20 ft of hull is now gone exposing the propeller shaft and four blade cast iron propeller. There are scattered pieces of hull around the existing wreck section.
