Site Description The EMBA sits very intact with the gantry of her self-unloader intact but the boom and much of the deck machinery was removed prior to scuttling. The bow apparently hit first when it sank leaving the forward sides of the ship, broken and the forecastle deck collapsed. The windlass is dislodged and sitting on end in the bilge on the port side. Almost all of the decking is gone exposing the large rocks dumped in the hold to insure the ship sank. The most interesting part of the wreck is the self-unloading gantry which is intact and much of the winch machinery is extant on or under the gantry. The ladder to the top of the gantry is extant and a spoked wheel is mounted near the base. The runnder and steering gear are intact but the wheel and aft cabins are gone. A section of the auger lays under the deck near the stern. The bitts are intact except for one of the starboard aft bitts which has been broken off and lays near the larger starboard tow bit on the stern.
