Site Description The Emperor sits on a steep slope and is remarkedly intact, the deeper stern being most intact. The ice and waves have damaged the shallow portions of the wreck and the pilothouse is gone. The anchors and much of her deck equipment remain including a giant windlass and deck winches. The forward cargo area has collapsed down to a break at a of depth of 70 ft where the deck and hatches are intact. There a few telescoping hatch covers still intact.  The stern includes an anchor and davit,  rudder and propeller hub, engine room with much machinery, boilers and intact boiler cabin, and numerous cabins including crew quarters and galley. The mess cabins have collapsed as are most of the starboard cabins while the port side cabins are more intact. The aft mast is still standing. The stack is broken and lies bent to the port side still porting the ships fog horn. There is also much intact structure on the aft cabin roof including ventilators, water tanks, skylights and davits.
