Site Description — The Lakeland sits upright and broken in two sections but relatively intact on the bottom in 205 ft of water. The forward cabins are gone down to the cabin deck but a portion of the aft cabins including the steel boiler cabin are still extant on site. The machinery extant on site includes the car elevator, engine, boiler, stack, deck winches, capstan, a spare propeller fluke, ventilators and bitts. There is also anchor chain but the anchor and propeller were apparently salvaged. Of course the most unique feature of the site are the 1924 automobiles which according to the WHS survey includes at least 21 Nash and Kissel automobiles. Most of them are now hidden under the collapsed deck. There are also many car parts and frames in the wreckage at the break.
