Site Description The hull of the May Queen is somewhat intact except the stern especially the port side which is broken and the transom is missing. The decking is gone but most of the deck beams are still extant. The sternpost is also extant. Some of the bulwark especially forward is also intact. There is one long hatch and beneath it the centerboard trunk is visible. The ratcheting windlass is extant and an anchor chain leads down to a mostly buried iron stock anchor just below the stem. The port side cathead is also visible. A small portion of the foredeck is still in place and divers have stacked artifacts on it including a pair of binoculars, two plates, a bowl, and several other containers. A distance from the wreck, and unrelated to the wreck lie the remains of a small airplane which local divers believe to be a Cessna and possibly the plane that carried Don and Kathie Tripplet to their deaths in 1971.
