Site Description The hull of the Ozias Wilcox is virtually intact although the cabins are gone exposing the propulsion machinery. The single expansion steam engine and firebox boiler are visible and the High Pressure Non Condensing system is visible with the absence of a condenser and the steam pipe from the cylinder exhaust to the broken steam exhaust stack that was behind the smoke stack. The larger diameter pipe surrounding the steam exhaust pipe above the boiler is presumed to be a feedwater preheater if it follows similar terrestrial steam engine systems. Also visible is the propeller and rudder and two large tow bitts along with four docking bitts. One of the lifeboat davits is still extant on the starboard side. The lever-rachet windlass is extant along with the port anchor although it is now on the starboard side.
